This tool is from the Brave rabbit company, which they have a lot of other great products-tools for Maya and other 3D applications.
I particularly like the “extractDeltas” tool, which helped me a lot when I was working on a company, and we had to use the 4 Bones limit inside Unity and it wasn’t enough to give us the perfect results. The “extractDeltas” saved the days back then. You should definitely check them out.
BrSmoothWeights is game-changing in my opinion, and probably you will agree with me when you start using it and benefit from the speed and efficiency it provides. I am pretty sure, it’s going to help you a lot, with your skinning process too.
It’s really easy to use and provides quite a similar interface to the built-in Paint Skin Weights tool in Maya, so your workflow inside Maya won’t be interrupted at all. And best of all is completely free. Don’t have to spend extra money on an expensive commercial tool, to have the skinning process done.
It’s really a pity, that Maya doesn’t have a built-in tool like that. Although don’t give me wrong, they made and make the Maya product better year by year, in my opinion.
The smooth skin weights tool in Maya works for the following version of Maya: 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2022, 2023.
